Default Tranny Problem

Hey guys. This is my baby.

I've never has a major problem with her, until today. I started to leave a parking lot and all seemed normal. Then, I got stuck at a light. When I left the light, I put my car in first gear(5 speed manual), but first gear was now third gear. There was no first gear. As I rolled up to the next light, it turned green, so I went to shift into gear, but there were no gears. All gone, so I rolled to the side of the road and called AAA.

Shift linkage?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like the bolt that is just below the shifter that connects the shifter to the remote linkage bar. Hopefully it just fell out and didn't break. I believe if that piece broke, you need to purchase an entire new stock shifter assembly since the part is not available separately.

I would agree with some piece of the linkage. You should be able to take both boots off (outer/inner) and wiggle everything around to find the missing piece.

If you need a stock shifter I know someone who has a few of them.

Well, I got her back today. The threads on the shift linkage had completely stripped out. Total damage, $425, so not too bad.

You could gotten a new shifter with new lickage for less than that.

Glad it's fixed.
