Default stupid question! how to increase top speed?

ok, our stock car is 140mph for the top speed, althought we could run higher than that, but we cant see the exactly number we ar running, and if we add a supercharger it will only show us a quicker time reach to 140mph, therefore, i want to know if there is any way we can increase our top speed to 180mph or 200mph for our GT? i m asking that because i have seen someone's speed gauge got 200mph in there GT, any idea with it.??.do we need to rebuild the block or something?

A bone stock GT can push into the 140's and possibly 150. More HP is required to overcome drag but it's not a linear relationship. I can get up to about 140 MPH with some pedal left and she's only turning about 4200 RPM in 5th gear. Someone on the forum running 4.10's plus a S/C was able to get near redline in 5th and was topped out in the 170 MPH range.

Of course, you need to reset the speed limiter. I believe the factory setting is in the 140's.

Custom tune with no speed restriction.

*Edit* Didn't read your whole post, sorry. If you want to hit speeds that high you need to regear and address some serious aerodynamics issues. S197s are about as aerodynamic as a brick wall.

so,forexample, after i add the supercharger, the car got 550hp, 510lb-ft with 3.73 gear ratio. is it ok to reset the factory speed limiter to 180mph or more higer? if yes how? and how much it will be?

I think you want to know what speed you are going above 140, right? You can buy a GT500 instrument cluster and that will show up to 160, I believe. Also, a Saleen cluster shows up to 200. They both require reprogramming.

Sell the mustang and buy a more aerodynamic vehicle, that would be the easiest way or else you're going to need A LOT of horsepower to overcome the brick wall of a grill

Buy a vette if you wanna fly that fast.

Mustangs would get damn squirrely much past 160 I would guess. That said they handle a lot better than old muscle cars would at that speed. You think the mustang is a brick? Try an old Challenger or Camaro at that speed.

Major pucker factor.

I'd imagine the GT500 front end would be a little more aerodynamic...
