Default 's about shortblock build

I am looking at installing the frpp shortblock(part # M-6009-A463SC). I will use my stock heads and just swap out the block. I talked to the dealership and they gave me a price of
$1425 labor
$243 fuild and gaskets minus head gaskets
$260 ford head gaskets
$90 ford head bolts
$350 for 8 bolt flexplate

Do i need to do cam phasers ($480) and timing chains($105)? i have 33000 miles on the motor.

Am i missing anything else?

I am looking at $5700 out the door without the cam phasers and timing chains. Does that seem like a good price?

My plans are to up the boost with the saleen 2.85 pulley and see what i can put down. Trying to put it in the 10's and still drive it everyday.

Prices seem right, for a dealer. I would also do the timing chains.

10s on street car is going to require some sticky rubber.

hey graygt07, that sounds like a really
nice engine build. to me the labor rate
seems really reasonable.

since bruceh and socal both recommend
chains, you should probably do them.
the timing components are wear items
and at 33k it may be best to err on the
safe side. you may as well do the chain guides
and chain tensioners also. we are only talking about
adding less than $250 to the build and it
would be like a new motor.

as far as new phasers, i don't see why you would have
to replace them. to be sure, ask your tuner and also
ask him whether or not you should limit or lock them
out for any reason.

good luck with the build and keep us posted.
