Default 2005-2009 vs 2010 intakes

Is there really any difference in this. I keep seeing places list a 2005-2009 intakes and then 2010 ones..and they dont list the same ones for the 2010..is there anything that has changed in the 2010 that would make the 05-09 not work..excluding that sound induction pipe..i am probably going to remove that anyway

Was just wondering cause I found the AFE intake for 200 and that seem like a more reasonable price then alot of the others I see out there.

The 2010 has a higher flow. The intake and the stock tune are the reason the 2010 makes 15 more hp than the earlier models.

As a 'for instance,' replacing the 2010 intake with an aftermarket CAI yields much less improvement in hp than with the 2005-2009.

That really didnt answer my question at all if an Intake that is listed for a 2005-2009 would work on my 2010

Two issues I can think of, neither of which I know the answer of for certain:
  1. Physical fitment - I haven't seen under the hood of a '10 but I suspect that, other than the sound tube as you mentioned, anything would be different with the '10.
  2. Tune - The '10's are already tuned for a bit more air flow than their '05-'09 cousins so I'm not sure if adding the AFE (is it a tune-required CAI? I can't recall) would throw a CEL without a custom tune. If you don't get a custom tune for, don't expect to feel much if any gain. The tune is about 80% of the CAI & tune combo's power adder.

well i plan on getting the SCT X3 as well..its just some of these intakes I see are just WAY over priced for what they are...I mean i see some that is just a plastic tube and a cut portion of the stock intake and they are asking like 350..The AFE is $200 and is a bit more reasonable in price. I actually would prefer something that deletes that sound induction tube as I think its kinda stupid after actually seeing what it was under my hood.

I can't say without looking but my best guess would be they are slightly different, but I'd imagine the biggest difference would be the shape of the heatshield.

Edit: Just found a picture of the 2010 under hood, it does look different, even in how the routing of the intake is. My guess is that a 05-09 intake would not fit.

It did answer your question -- the tune would be different. You would literally have to have a tune written for a 2010 vehicle specifically utilizing an intake for a 2009. I guess the (2009) aftermarket intake would have more airflow than the 2010 stock intake anyway, so might not be a problem if the tuner knows what he is doing.

If by your sentence above, I can deduce you were talking physical placement only, then that's something different.

my original question had nothing to do with a tune..I was talking about if it would fit on the car.

And you made that clear after I originally tried to help you.
