Question Chocking pony, need help.

About a month ago I bought a bamachips tune for my SCT xcal3 tuner. I had bought a combo pack of the tuner and a JLT cai for my old '05 stang. I just bought one tune file and uploaded and installed everything onto the new '06. The 05 was auto, the 06 is stick so i figured the changes in tune would be a little different. Well after installing the tune it was fine. The next day the car wouldn't start up. I had to mash the gas and it was burning fuel really bad. There was a white smoke cloud coming out of the exhaust. I told bamachips and they redid the tune. It was fine until recently. The idle surges when I'm at a light and sometimes it dies on startup. I'm thinking that it's not getting enough air so I'm doing a recharge on my air filter right now. If this doesn't work, I don't know where to go next. I need some help. Any suggestions?

Start with the simple things, clean the MAF, clean the throttle body, and make sure everything is tight and not leaking on the connections for the CAI. Also it would be good to unhook the battery for 10 minutes or so and let the car re-learn the idle fuel trims.

Next I would check the spark plugs, then move to the o2 sensors. If none of that works, then you'll probably need to bring it to a shop.

EDIT: One more thing I'd check is with the car idling, feel behind the exhaust pipes and make sure a similar amount of air is coming out both pipes just in case you have a clogged cat.

Heh..yeah...I know about wasting damn money trying to figure stuff out. My car had some stumbles and mis-fires and I went through everything and it ended up being the last damn thing I tried which was bad coils. The driver's side o2 sensor is a pain in the **** and I had to remove the exhaust manifold to do it.

Good luck!
