Anyone have Cams in an Automatic?
I'm wanting to know what it sounds like while in idling at a red light. I'm assuming it would sound different than a manual since the idle would be lower, around 750-800 rpm. I could be wrong though.
Anyone know? |
Actually idle is higher with an auto. I just installed detroit rockers. Mine is about 900-950 and sounds wicked!! The original tune they gave me wasnt right due to my sensitve computor so they sent me a revised one............way better. These cams really do rock!! This vid is the non-revised tune, idle is 950-1000.

Sounds good, but I'm referring to when you're sitting at a red light. Car is in drive, foot on brake. Is the idle lower then? I'm thinking it will be and I'm trying to see what it will sound like then.
I found your other video. That's what I needed to see. Awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwo0fpxyv-0& |
I think my cams idle at 750, in neutral or drive.

OP, I just want to clarify both of those vids are with my first tune. I have a revised tune that lowered it about 100, so the sound is way better IMO. Good luck with your modding.

That's even better to hear. So who did your install?
|
I did the install on mine (as part of an engine build), but the cams are custom Comp grinds from Jim at jimtune.net.
Sound clip for ya: my_custom_cams-idle The clip doesn't really do justice :) |
I had help from two friends one of which has been a mechanic for 30 years. Which means I did whatever he told me to do! "Get me another gatoraide boy"!!!!! LOL I learned a lot and am getting less intimidated by it all. We all get together to race once a month at our track. They have Vettes, I got the stang.
