Default Throttle Lag?

So i have read about throttle lag with the mustang. I have an 05 mustang gt and it seems to take a good couple seconds after pressing the pedal for it to start going. Is this the throttle lag everyone has stock???

Yep, that's it. You can eliminate most of it with a tune. Recommend getting a CAI with the tune to add to the fun.

There is a recalibration procedure for the throttle in the OM but that rarely fixes the problem adequately. The CAI & custom tune combo is the best known fix and the extra 20-25 RWHP comes in handy, too.

my 05 gt is an auto and i agree...it took about a couple of seconds to get the full wot after you stomped it...even after a mild tune it was still there somewhat...but after a fully customized tune most of the problem has been fixed...but we still have to remember the computer of the car still needs a bit of time to reconfigure when it goes to wot...

The OEM recalibration is not to fix lag in the pedal, but rather to make sure the response between pedal and throttle is linear across the range. From the factory, there is a programmed lag time between when you touch the throttle and when the position is sent to the throttle, which makes for much smoother shifts, and actually lessens (to a point) exactly how much stress you can induce on the driveline during fast shifting.

The tune simply changes the lag time, making it almost exactly as if there was a throttle cable, instead of electronic signal.

New to the world of Mustangs, just starting to try to understand the mechanics of all this. Two questions. Do custom tunes affect the car warranty? When serviced at a dealership, would they do anything to reset back to factory, is that a problem? Sorry if they're stupid question, but trying to learn here. Thanks

Assuming Chevy and Ford are the same with their warranties, it would void the warranty with a programmer. I have a 2010 Camaro SS, and ANY modification to the computer system will void the warranty. Newer cars are becoming very "smart" and information is recorded. When you take your vehicle in to the dealer for service, they download all of your ECU's information first before any work is performed. The ECU also has a history, and that can be accessed as well. That's how it is with CHEVY, but im assuming Fords are somewhat close

Custom tune will remove the auto throttle lag.
