Default CMDPs need tuning?

I was doing a little research into CMDPs as my next mod. I thought it would be simple install and go. But according to the Steeda website, they recomend tuning with it. Would such a simple mod need custome tuning? I have a DiabloSport tuner so I suppose its not a huge deal, but its surprising something so small would need that.

Is custom tuning nesissary, or is it plug and play (no pun intended)?

Supposedly, if you don't tune for it, your car will go into "failsafe mode" and run badly. Something to do with the electric motor that moves the valves; when you remove it, the computer goes haywire unless you disable it completely (with the tuning)

I didn't risk it; got my tune updated BEFORE I went on installing the plates.

it needs tuning because you are removing motors that open the butterflys etc. You have to have a tun that turns the command off to operate them basically. its a simple tune adjustment really but you have to have it done

Ah, makes sense now. Is this something I can tune myself with the tuner or will I need to have a custom tune written?

Custom tune; it's a common mod.

when i had my plates installed, i have a diablo programmer, and the man who tuned mine went back into the program and recalibrated the timing tables to allow more airflow. i thought i would never feel a difference but to be quite honest i did...very much surprised me.

Well, I guess that puts these on the back burner for abit. It's hard to find custom tuning for the DiabloSport....

Is there a way to write cutome tunes for the DiabloSport yourself?

The tune is more than just turning off the actuator. All of the tables must be changed to compensate.

Never2mucHP, I just sent you a PM.
