Hey guys, I've got a 2010 gt, and I think it's a little quieter then i'd like. I was poking around, and I looked at the SLP Loudmouths, which are basically pipe and a tip. Could I go to autozone, and buy elbow pipe and straight pipe, and tips and have the same thing? Obviously, i'd need clamps and hangers, but thats implied. Any thoughts? I bet it'd save me a ton of money..

You could, but I wouldn't try that unless you have a pipe bender too, because I don't think a straight piece of pipe and a generic elbow will do the trick.

it's worth a shot if you have all the right tools/equipment. I had straight pipes for a year on mine and I loved it.. got cut outs, now it's too loud lol

A straight pipe exhaust from a manufacturer is a little different then what I think you are thinking about. The shape they make is there for more than one reason.
Fitment and sound.

You could save money... but you might also just end up with a piece of crap pipe and be wasting money that could go towards some SLP's.
Plus remember the fact that time is money. Wasting time, wasting money.

Some people can do this and pull it off.
But if it was me... I'd just go with the SLP's.

You can sometimes find a set of used SLP LM on this forum and other mustang forums.

+1 meeeeeeelioin.

I'd go that route if I were you.
What did you say you had on yours now?
I just put a set of long tube headers and a catted x on mine along with some cams and I think the SLP's I have may be a bit to loud.

I was gonna say we might be able to trade but you have a 2010 and I don't think that would work.

Also, if you look inside the SLP exhaust, as well a Pypes Bomb, and other similar axle backs, they have rivets machined in them, to aid in the sound. a complete straight pipe from headers back, would be retarded loud, and extremely raspy.

Pypes Bomb is about $320 shipped, new. ..just so you know.
