Default WTF...water puddle around intake???

So me and a buddy of mine were rompin around tonight and stopped so he could get a look at the engine, right. Popped the hood and noticed a puddle of water trapped just behind the air intake hose going into the motor. I mean a whole bunch with some white residue along the walls of the metal were the water was getting trapped. Appears to be some kind of condensation....Is this normal with this engine? looks dangerous in the place it is collecting since it could easily get sucked into the engine.
Please advise...
ty in advance.

I had that happen once after I washed the car. I've kept my eyes open to watch for it since and it hasn't. Beat the chit out of me...

The white residue is a little oxidation of the material the TB is made of. Nothing to worry about .

Hey, thanks Nuke...I did just take it through the car wash a couple days ago, so you may be right. Damnest thing I have ever saw, no trace of water anywhere under the hood but there so I don't have any idea where it came from, I just know it was in a bad place. Thought it might have something to do with the fancy ford intake cover trapping moisture, hope it doesn't happen again that's for sure.

I have the factory hood scoop and assumed that water had leaked from one of the mounting holes. The scoop tends to hold water underneath anyway. Strange thing is that every time I wash the car, I do pop the hood and wipe the engine and bay down and haven't seen a drop on the TB like that one time. Twilght zone...

That is exactly where it is coming from. You will find the hood insulation a little damp there as well. AM is now selling a cover for the TB that will solve the problem of that area holding water. My '10 is bone dry in that area on the TB....I have no scoop. I have a friend who has a CS / GT. It is even worse.

Just to update this problem...

Ordered the throttle body cover at AM and went through the car wash today, when home and opened up the cover...no puddle
Thank god that cover worked, I love that car wash!

Even no-touches can be dangerous to the paint. Any little elements that don't get stopped by the filtration system are going to be very abrasive to the paint. It's like washing your car under a mini-sandblaster. Be careful .

As much as I dis car washes, I've seen plenty of folks destroy a car's finish by their method of handwashing. Soooooo.... either way, whatever works for you.
