Dash Squeak GT

Dash Squeak GT
Took off on a 1,200 round trip for Thanksgiving here in NC to Daytona Beach, FL. Not all NC roads are smooth. Some have a repetitive thump, thump going for them.
Had a squeak in the dash left of the steering that has been bothering me, but, for that many miles got to be more than bothering. At least on those thump, thump roads.
Is it a great big issue getting the dash to the left of the steering out, and reinstalled tigtening up as you go? I thought about it for the 600 mile outward bound trip a lot. I made a temporary, maybe longer term, fix in FL. I got some black nylon ties, cut off most of them, left with the fastener end and about an inch. I inserted those between the black lower panel, and the shiny upper panel resonably close the steering, and below the instrument and the trip back was much more pleasant.
TIA

I'll have to see if I can find some before I can answer. Thanks for the thought. I see what it is on the web, but, what I saw was one that is .25" thick. And the issue I have is that the two panels lap together, lower black panel over the edge of the silver upper panel under the Tach. Right now my nylon tie "fix" is working, time, weather and energy need to come together and get me off my butt and see if i want to remove the lower panel for a chance at more "professional" fix. Sadly room in my garage does not allow me to just go out and tackle various operatons.
