Default Correct Injector length?

I recently installed a whipple H.O. kit from lethalperformance.com and had 6 of my 8 injectors leak on start up. Two leaked badly. The injectors that came with the kit are about a quarter of an inch shorter then the stock ones. Is this correct?

if i'm reading the frpp catalog correctly, around 65mm is the length
injector we need for the whipple manifold.

Thanks hammeron, I just went out and mic'd the injectors from whipple and they are 65.08mm. So hopefully the new fuel rails will fix any leaks. They should be here thursday

Those are the correct ev14 length injectors needed for a s197 whipple. Start up leaks happen and are usually the result of improper oring lubrication or seating. Remember that orings are a one time use item. It's less than $5 for a new set.

Yeah I know they are a one time use and with the whipple kit the injectors all get new o-rings. I removed the injectors 3 times and re lubricated and put back in. All three times the injectors leaked. As much as I would like to take credit for the injectors not seating correctly, I think the fuel rails when torqued down are not pushing down on the injectors right. So the new fuel rails should fix that.

Just updating this with some information I found out, while trying to fix the injectors leaking. The tabs that bolt the stock fuel rails down can get bent from being taken off and reinstalled. They can be rebent to apply pressure on to the injectors fixing the leaks, however a set of after market fuel rails will fix the problem too. They also look alot better.

Too much pressure on the injector can also cause a leak.

^^^^ Very true I also found that out back in December while trying to fix them before my new fuel rails got delivered. So I guess the real moral of the story is if the tabs get bent get nice new ones haha.

When I put my KB on, I used 60# injectors instead of the 38s KB wanted me to use. The 60"s are longer and when I tightened down the fuel rail, it would put too much pressure on the injector. I had to shim all of the fuel rails and make sure they were sitting straight and correct. Basically the fuel rails were popped into placed, seated into the manifold by hand and then the fuel rail was tightened down to where it barely touched the fuel rail. Worked ever since.
