Just changed my 05 GT plugs with 45k. About the easiest I have ever done. No problems. Car just sat through 3 days of extreme cold(-35). Don't know if this did any thing, but makes you wonder.

 

I haven't relayed my story for a while. I have an '06 GT. I've always used good preimum gas (Shell mostly) and full synthetic oil, changed at 5K miles. Several years ago I had about 40K miles and the stories about the 2 piece plugs were just starting to surface. I got all the goodies described in the Ford TSB and went to work, following the procedure to the letter. The first plug came out, screeched, but it came out. The second one snapped. I decided to turn it over to the dealer where I bought it. I had it trucked there. A couple of days later, I get a call. The service dude said "their best engine guy" had broked off 5 more plugs and they might even have to pull the heads. I'm freaking by now. The next day they called and said my car was done. They didn't have to pull the heads. When I went to pick it up, I was presented a bill for between $800 and $900. I paid it and left.
I went home and started sending emails. I contacted Ford Customer Service as well as the owner of the dealership. I told them I had had quite a few new Mustangs, but would never own another Ford. I didn't hear anything more for a while. A few weeks later I had my car in for a minor recall. While I was waiting in the lounge, the Service Manager came in and handed me a check (from Ford Motor Company) for the total amount of the spark plug repair. I have never heard of this happening to anyone else. A couple of weeks later, I pulled the new OE plugs they had installed and installed the one piece Champion plugs. I will never use those 2 piece crap plugs in my engine again. End of story

 

Wayne 613 and I did our plugs this weekend. Pulled all 16 with no breaks! My GT has 44k miles and his has 60k (I think).

I can't believe they charged that much for crappy spark plugs GoldenPony...

I went with Brisk plugs and Wayne got the Autolite HT 0's. Both cars run much better now.

 

Yep, they screeched a bit for a couple, but they came out in one piece. 63.5k mileage.

I don't baby my car, but I do use good gas, am of course the only owner, and keep up with maintenance using pure synthetic oil. They were still coated in carbon, and the gap wasn't exactly factory spec anymore from the wear (not by a long shot).

I'm almost convinced that the sea-foam usage in a tank prior helped quite a bit, as well as the pb-blaster.

if i have the brown boots (09 gt) i have the one piece design and dont have to worry about breaking them?
