Help- P2197 trouble code
According to my SCT this is the code my engine is throwing:
P2197 Oxygen air fuel sensor signal stuck lean Bank 2, Sensor 1
I've used Google
Done plenty of searching and found plenty (too much) of info, and because of my circumstances, was hoping somebody might know something that could help me.
Here's what happened: My car is an auto, 05 GT- 48K miles, has always run great. I decided to get some gauges installed, since the temp and oil gauges on my cluster have crapped out (and I wanted cool looking gauges, so shoot me)
I got an air/fuel, oil temp, and water temp set (electric) from GlowShift and had them professionally installed. On the the way out of the shop, I noticed my CEL was on, and then my car went into limp mode. I freaked, turned around and went straight back to the shop- veeeerrry slowly.
Turns out the dumbass left the MAF disconnected. They insisted the CEL would go off by itself. Well, it didn't. So after a few days I hooked up my SCT and read the codes. They were 2- both MAF related (didn't write them down) I cleared them and everything was fine for about a week. (about 80-100 miles). I thought that was that.
Then a couple days ago I noticed the idle acting just a little strange- barely noticeable, only in the morning. Then the CEL was back on.
This time it was only the P2197 code. I'm thinking vacuum leak, more MAF issues (could this be caused by what happened), a wiring issue, replace an O2 sensor....?
I cleared the code this morning, but I really want to get to the bottom of this. In light of what happened with the gauge install, any suggestions on where to start with this would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Well the code is telling you where to look: bank 2 sensor 1 is the driver-side front O2 sensor. Make sure it's plugged in and the wires aren't burnt or cut.
You need to find out what they tapped into when wiring up the gauges. Some people will pull power from the engine harness, such as where power feeds the O2 sensors. You could have a bad wire splice there.
If you got a 'standard' or 'narrow-band' air/fuel gauge (useless by the way), they probably spliced into your driver side O2 signal wire and that is causing your issues.
Did they install a wideband 02 sensor?
Since you had no issues before the install, they most likely caused the issue.

Mike- Thanks SO much for the reply and info. I thought about as much- and yeah they definitely caused it. I suspect you are right on that they spliced into the drivers side O2 wire- my question now, how would this best be remedied?
