Exclamation Found fluid on rear diff?!

I was under the rear of my car earlier investigating some squeaks I have and noticed fluid covering a lot of the rear diff. It's not leaking from the cover. Can someone tell me what thisis? It was not dripping; car is parked in the garage, and no fluid has leaked onto the floor, just coated theis piece.

Bad pinion seal. Is everything stock? If so, take it to the dealer.

Is that maybe coming from the pinion seal?

Thanks, that's what I was thinking after doing some reading. What normally causes this to happe? Everything is stock, aside from the suspension. What's involved in fixing that? Is it bad on anything to drive like that?

I have a bad seal as well from when 4.10's were put in. However, mine doesn't drip much and I have never seen a puddle under my car.

Yup. Pinion Seal. Had to replace mine last December. It can get bad. My pinion went out. Car would sound like I had giant knobby tires on it when it went out.

Hmmm. Guess j gotta get it by the dealer. I don't guess it'll hurt to drive it for another 3-4 days like this, right?

I don't have any of these other symptoms you guys have listed. At least not yet. I do have what sounds like a birds nest in the rear. Not sure if this could be the cause of that.

Get there as soon as possible. It could last one day or one month.....hard to say. I would drive real easy and only drive it when absolutely necessary. Would suck to get stuck on the side of the road one night. That happened to a guy on this site last year.
