Default kenne bell hp ?

had a 2.6 l installed on my 05 gt i had the shop do a dyno tune as they were a authorized dealer for kenne bell any way my question is the car makes 400 hp at the wheels a/f is just below 12 and everthing seems to run great , this # is much less than advertized on there web site , it does have the flat panel filter and not the cone filter , any feed back is appreciated , just looking to see if my hp numbers are consistent with what others are getting for power
Thanks Dan

Hm...that's hard to say, but it seems like it's a little low.
With my 11.5 psi 2.6, I was pushing 500 hp at the wheels.

You didnt state if yours is an auto or manual. An auto will loose more power. But still, you should probably be at a little higher hp. Depends on a lot of factors, though, too, like what octane of fuel are you using, what timing is being used at wot.

The different air filter seems strange. There could be air flow restriction there.
Are you using the Lightning maf that comes with the kit and all KB intake plumbing otherwise?
Do you have a boost gauge? Doesn't sound like it. You'd be able to see how much boost you're actually building...it might only be around 8 psi or even less.

I do have a boost gauge and it shows 9lbs the air filter is because it was bought through shelby so it the 50 state legal air filter shown on there website the timing is at 18* at wot . I believe I will buy the different air filter and hopefully that helps , all the other plumbing is what came in the kit.

I'd say at 9lbs it's in the right range, maybe a little low. You didn't mention what dyno was used, the numbers you most often hear are from Dynojets, Mustang dynos give lower numbers. I would say that with 11lbs you would be at between 450-500 (on a dynojet) depending on supporting mods and the tune quality.

Are you running the intercooled kit?
What were the conditions during your dyno runs?

Im wondering if heat soak had anything to do with the lower range numbers.
Especially when the KB site claims 500+rwhp.

remember a dyno run is to make sure the car is running properly and that your hp can be manipulated by many variables. You can have a dyno queen but still get ripped by someone on the street or track
