Alright just an update to this thread I think I'm going to go ahead and replace the clutch soon. It continues to make all sorts of noise, is not smooth and is grabby/chattering.

I was looking at exedy Mach 400 kits with the slave cylinder combo from late model restoration. Any options on if that clutch is a good idea?

Also my local speed shop pushes spec clutches and swears by them but they seem to be a love em or hate them kind of thing from what I have read. Anyone here had one?

 

Do not get a spec. Search the forum for why.

 

When my clutch is acting up, I rev it up and pop it! It always seems better after a good beating. Mine is not stock though, so ymmv.

Sounds to me like your clutch is cooked... If you are hearing chatter and feeling shudder, its usually an indication of excessive finger wear on the pressure plate because your clutch is misaligned. Im sure there wont be much left on the clutch disc when you get it replaced... Post pics!

My pressure plate and disc looked horrid... But, I knew when I bought the car 6 months ago the clutch was on the way out...
