Default 08 4.6 Engine Replacement Question

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any help here. I have a 2008 Mustang GT with a 4.6 in it that needs to be replaced but I am having an issue finding a definitive answer about what donor I can use. When I look up engines on ebay they are notated as either "up to 12/2" or "from 12/3". The date on my door sticker says the build date is 7/6, so it is the pre 12/2. My question is what is the difference? Will a 4.6 from a 2009 mustang work? I have looked everywhere and just cant find a solid answer, any help is much appreciated.

The only change made for mid 08 models was the spark plugs and coils. Before Nov of 2007 the 4.6 had two piece plugs. 08 engines built after Nov 2007 and forward were one piece plugs. Your build date of July 2007 means you have two piece plugs.

ignition coils are also different between the two types. Two piece plugs = black coil boots, one piece = brown coil boots.

if you’re doing an engine swap, as long as you get engine harness, you’ll be fine to swap with anything 08 and up.
