i have a 1993 2.3 with about 115000 miles and the transmission is acting up. it started about a few weeks ago.. and has progressively gotten worse. started with as the trans shifted up through the gears it seemed like it would hesitate slighty in between gears. it has now gotten to the point that when i put it in reverse, backing outta the driveway, it will just outta reverse into neutral. it wont jump back into gear unless i kinda rev the engine a lil bit. then once i get down the road, i stop at a stop sign and it shifts into neutral. again i have to kinda rev the engine a lil to get it into gear. after i drive for a while it stops acting up. it seems like it jumps in and outta gears more frequently. its progressively getting worse. do i need to get it rebuilt or is it just shot. thanks for any and all input!!!

nothing new. throw it away swap in a t5

 

i would change the fluid and filter, and check if there is fluid in the vacuum line, at the vacuum modulator...

and see whats up from there

 

Check to make sure you have fluid. Some thing happened to me and it was low on fluid... a week later I broke something and I lost 3rd and 4th

 

I wouldn't start putting money into that tranny. Trash it and move to a T-5. It will save you money in the long run. I have spent more money on my stupid A4LD than anything else and I'm still having problems.
I am currently looking into swapping, just have to find a 4cyl T5 around here.
