5.0 Swap
yes and no. the 2.3L T-5's are actually geared better, but they wont last as long.
do you have access to an 86 5.0? if not, why do you want a carbd engine? the technology is basically dead.

it wont even fit so dont even worry, when i did the last one and ive done 3 swaps now, i droped in a 5.0 attached to tranny(which was an auto) bolted in everything hooked up drive line and was good, the car was a 4bang 5spd too so it was a little hassle getting a shifter cus my donor car wasnt around, i only had the motor and trans from a guy, but ur 4bang trans only fits that and sum v6 ones if im correct, i do know for sure it doesnt fit a v 8 and if it could with like say some weird bellhousing adapter its unlikely it would take the abuse, so u need a t5 trnny for ur 5.0 if ur gonna do it or us the auto thats on it.
oh and u dont need to change the axles, infact the rear end on the 2.3 might be geared better. i never have change any of mine in the cars ive done, i would really love to know how you guys think u can bolt on a 4bang tranny to a 5.0 motor, is 92 a special year???? cus as far as i know its not. My 93 looks the same as my 86 did and my 80 so please let me know if im wrong ill admit it but im not
i know, and i love how they just go by the vin, lol, anyway its easy stuff, u know how to turn wrench so just get the right tranny that u want, u will need to change computers, i did it differantly since i was using A 4 BARREL CARB and regular distributer with points. i had no ecu and no electronics, its so much easier that way, no feul injection or electronic controlled timing crap, not as efficient but so easy to tune and maintain, im going old skool on this one too when i get my motor and stuff

the 4 cylinder and 5.0's both use the t5 trannies but the 4 cylinder is geared differently and has a lower torque rationg than 5.0 t-5's. the rearends in the 4 bangers are crap, they may have steeper gears but they are open differentials and not tration locks like the 5.0 also the 5.0 from 86-up had an 8.8 rearend and the 4 banger had a 7.5
so you are saying they have the same bolt pattern on the bellhousing, and that either one will just bolt directly on to the 5.0 ........come on now, ive never heard of that, the 2 trannies dont even look the same!!!!!
