Default Running rough

I have an 89 2.3L, and when I give it about 1/4 throttle it spits and spudders. If I give it full throttle it is fine. Also my mpg has gone from around 25-26 down to 18-19. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have new wires, distributor cap and rotor and have put a bottle of stp injector cleaner in it a tank ago. Thanks.

Stop by autoparts. have codes run. I thinking trottle position sensor. Also look for vacumn leaks first. {cracked, broken lines}Did you put in new plugs?

Same thing is happening to me, I would say its either your IAC, or TPS. Check TPS for dead spots and clean the IAC

thanks guys. The plugs are fairly new, like 2000km ago. i'll check the iac and tps tomorrow. I don't think there are any vacuum leaks, but i'll check that again too. I'll let you know what i find.

Do what i did when i first got the car.... go buy like 15-20ft of hose and just redo them all. I also got some after market hose cover sleeves that protect them from heat and weather so they dont crack [:@]

Hosing is kinda cheap too, I got sleeves that are pretty spendy... like a $40 kit for em...

I agree with sleeper, check your TPS. If thats not it, make sure your plugs have the correct gap.

Bad news. The first thing i did was a compression test. From 1 to 4 they were 190,150,110,190. I put oil in and 2 and 3 went to 155. So i'm assuming the rings are bad in 3 and maybe a leaky valve in 2. So now the motor is coming out. After dinner today we(me and my dad)got the motor out of the parts car,That willgo in there for now.Probably going to be until monday till i get around tofinishing it, due to 8:30am-9pm days at work tomorrow and sunday. I'll keep you posted. There is on good thing about this though, i'm getting good at taking the motor out.it was the forth one in the last two weeks tonight.
