Default Project

I am in the process of taking twosh*t cars and turning them into 1 decent car; thought I would post updates on it. I am going to take the motor, radiator support, springs, shocks, and front bumper off of and otherwise trash 90 Convertable and install them in my 90 Hatch that needs paint and a front clip.
Thursday (two days ago)- got my vert home and started taking the front end off. Everything goes smooth untill I have to remove the radiator support. The car has been wrecked before so the radiator support was weld central. I spent 2 hours removing spot welds before I went to bed.
Friday- I finished removing the radiator support and in the process messed up the unibody frame rails pretty bad.
Saturday- detached all of the wiring from the engine of the convertable and went to my old house and picked up the hatchback and all of its various pieces.
Tomorrow- I am going to try to get the engine pulled out of the convertable and maybe put in the hatchback.
I will try to get pictures posted soon.

And I can't find a decent convetable. At a reasonable price. Try taking several pieces from several cars to make one. Oh the fun of building a car. Look at my signature.

This is the convertable 3 years ago when I got it. It has since been through a 16 year old and his friends being idiots in it for about a year strait. (gravel drift)

Found a white one like that in j-yard has decent top. Usable for awhile. No interior I bought it and installed in the hatchback I am selling. Once it is sold going to see if can buy it. He can keep the motor and trans have other plans. Know where another interior is buy body is wrecked on it. Wanting to convert car to four eye specs. So may let him keep nose also. Converting dash also. Big project but should be interesting. Something to work on next winter.MGB project should be close to done by then. Sleeper and others know plans for motor. This should give idea.

Thats looks pretty cool
Update
Sunday- I got the motor in the convertable unbolted and the only thing holding it in is gravity
Today- I am going to go take the clutch off of the old motor and maybe the MAP sensor, rear bumper and power window circuit breaker off of the convertable. And if I can go and get the cherry picker from my brothers I will pull the motor.
Still no pictures, I can't get them from the camera to the computer.

I thought about fixing the convertable but it is in real bad shape. There are holes in the floors from rust, it needs a new top and all new weatherstripping, a transmission, lots of rust under the car fixed, it is an electrical fire waiting to happen, needs new fenders and lots of work on the door skins, lots of rust on one quarter panel, and right before I quit driving it the front brakes went out. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen, the hub and the rotor rotate seperatly. The hub sheared off and spins freely.
It might not seem like it but the hatchback needs a lot less work to be a nice car.

Bacon57 Know where a 87 to 93 convertable is just need to see him. He operates a salvage yard. But who knows when he will be there. No regular hours. Gone all the time Why??? Buying cars???. Don't know he is never there to sell parts. From the sound of it I agree on your decision about your convertable. The motor is a SHO converted to rear wheel drive. Want something differant. 5.0,4.6,5.8, etc all been done. But I am differant.
