Great success today. Shot some starting fluid into it, and the car fired right up. Fuel injectors pass inspection as well, in terms of functioning, so the likely issue is that they are jsut gummed up. Going to clean them tomorrow, and with luck, that'll be it.

since the intake is off, though, I'm going to block off the EGR and install a roller cam while I'm at it.

Way I did mine. I cut flange off. Thread the hole to 3/8". Epoxyied a 3/8 by 1/4 bushing in it and then a ****** fitting. My boost gauge is hooked to it.

It's alive! Fuel injectors cleaned up, and car starts and runs. Video coming soon.

Does leak antifreeze from water pump (no biggie). More interestingly, however, it appears to be burning oil when I started it. My guess is that it has a lot to do with the engine being upside down for a while, and all of the starting fluid used. I'm just praying that the turbo seal isn't blown...

Turbo seal is easy to replace. I can do it in 10 minutes with the turbo still in the car

Are you serious? That makes me incredibly happy. Ford factory repair procedures say to replace the whole turbo assembly should something go wrong - then again, it also says to replace the injectors should they stop, as well.

Where do you get the turbo seals from ,sleeper?

Any turbo website. But a rule from myself, get the turbo rebuilt if the oil seal is failing, because the turbo will be there soon[&:]

So I've read. You and turbo's don't seem to get along. But thanks for the info. I'm watching one on ebay in good shape, might just get that.

While I havn't kept up too well, which injectors are you using? Brown tops?

What you can do, go to ebay, and get a injector rebuild kit for a 5.0, and you have enough to do two sets of 4 banger injectors. They come with O-rings, pintle caps, and the little screens in the top. The little screens are very common for getting clogged up.

Also, burning oil on start up is pretty common. Valve stem seals generally fix that. Thats the perfect time to get some new valve springs, HLA's, and probably throw a roller cam in there.

I am using 35# brown tops. They ended up cleaning fine. Car still won't idle or run to well, but spark timing is just badly eye balled right now - I am expecting it to run like a champ after it's timed. The turbo sounds sickengly awesome.

The exhaust has stopped smoking, and I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with one incredibly bad error I made. I'm not going to say what, but I did have to pull the trans this morning to fix it. Still a faint smell, but I expect that to dissappear shortly, as well.

Putting a water pump on tomorrow. I'm probably going to need some help getting the cooling fan fuctioning properly (right now it is always on).

Also, if anyone is interested, I have an extra small VAM, an extra large VAM, and a PK1 EEC for sale.
