I have mine set up so I have a quick connect to the wires, and a test light. Takes 10 seconds to connect, the OBD I scanner takes 5 seconds...

No, they should report a code #11 for normal (no codes) or the codes...

cause my check engine light comes on while driving. i'm thinking its either the o2 sensor or the EGR. i'm leaning more towards the EGR, because the o2 sensor would give me bad fuel mileage, and filled up yesterday and am now getting 18 in the city.

the computer goes off fuel maps inside it till you reach 45-50 MPH, then it will swap over to the o2 when cruising. Could be an o2, ECT, etc.
