Default Problem with rear power window

Hello all. This is Joe. I'm new here. I would first like to say I love my Stang! I am living in Germany and just bought a 96 GT 5.0 Convertible. It only has 46,000 KM on it! It was strictly a summer driver. I used to have a 2003 SRT4 about 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, it was a fast car and I had it tuned a little bit but I have to admit, just driving this GT 5 liter for only a week now and the first time driving a Stang, it feels so much meaner!

Anyways, the reason I'm writing is that the rear driver's side window won't roll up. I pulled the panel off the door and all the wires were connected fine. I started to pull the panel off the back to get to the window but it is getting dark here now. Is there something out of the ordinary that I might want to look for or maybe some one else has had this problem before and sais, check this or this first, before I go taking her apart.I am pretty technical savvy so I'm sure I'll find out what the problem is,just thought I'd ask first.

Thanks for your help and talk to you later.

Here's a pic...

Make a post in the 4.6 section as well because your 1996 GT should have a 4.6 liter engine in it.

Hello Ryan. Thanks for the reply. I was curious about that as well. The title (German) sais 96. The original GT booklet (users guide) sais 95. The motor sais 5.0 HO on it. The car came from Canada. The guy I bought it from is an owner of a Ford dealership here in Germany.

The badge on the fender indicates that is a 5.0 but 5.0's were only made up to 95. What was the build date? Have you run a carfax on it at all? This is interesting.

To fix your problem i would test the window motor, test to see it has power and ground if it does the window motor may have burnt up. Its not an uncommon thing. Good luck!!

nice car, but if its a '96 its a 4.6, you either have the wrong owners manual or the title is wrong...

to see if you have a 5.0, pop the hood, and the intake manifold should say 5.0 HO on it, if its aftermarket it may say something else, take a pic and post it...

not trying to sound like a jerk... I had an argument with a guy today about how my car has a 5.0 in it, not a 4.6

If the motor is making a lot of noise but not going up, then you have a broken plastic gear on the inside of the motor. Its a cheap and quick fix. Here is a link to a fox with a similar problem on the front window. Its basically the same measures to fix yours.
