Default 331 or 347?

What would be better for drive ability and which would make more power? i drive my 95 gt on weekends sometimes during the week and i want to make horsepower but not sacrifice being able to drive it on the road whenever i want, anyone have a 331 or 347 that drives on the road and has no problems? also which would be better and why?

either i am assuming would be fine for driveability but everything else u do in the build up is where driveability comes into play. for instance to big of a cam is critical to driveablitity ac are u going to keep it? suspension? is it going to be set up for the the 1320? and i have always read that 347 tend to make more horsepower then the 331 but not by a huge amount just a few things to think about

I have a 331 and I love it they are both about the same in hp range but the 331 will last longer bc of the shorter stroke

i have the 347. ive heard the 331 is more reliable but i cant see it being much more reliable. and i read the 347 only puts out 16 more hp than the 331 built with the same mods. but hey 16hp is 16 hp. i say 347. never had trouble out of mine!

I've also heard the whole deal with the 331's being more reliable that the 347's. Like ikeybmg said, the 347 make minimal more HP but makes a significant more amount of torque (I believe). But if it was me, I would go with the 331.

Shorten your stroke and make a 306....you can put out just as much power if bulilt right.

personally, I would rather have a standard bore engine for better cooling, there are 327 and 342 kits out there, that being said, I would rather have a 327 due to a better rod ratio

It's funny that you made this thread. I was actually debating the same thing for myself. Now that I have this turbo on I know I'm going to need a new block and better internals. I know I'm going with a DART so I can get the 4 bolt main. But I didn't know if I wanted the bigger displacement or not. But now that gas is kickin' my a$$ I think I'm gonna go with the 331 because I have also been told that it will last me a lot longer.
