cam shaft end play?

i just rebuilt my engine and i installed a gear drive set and thay are the one that are not noisey and there is a little cam shaft end play in & out is that normal if so how much is to much?? thanx fellas!!!

i have a b-303 cam with procomp gears i havent put a dial indacator on it yet but it moves in and out a little bit i would say about an eighth of an inch or so!!!

Question did you put the cam shaft thrust plate on? Are the timing gears all mocked up?
