Is it a daily driver or track car? for a daily, no. for a track car, it can be worth it.

On a daily, going w/ aluminum heads saves you 60 #'s, tubular k-member and a-arms save 40 #'s, remove back seat and buckles/straps saves 40 #'s...... that's just basic stuff, though.

Have any of you guys taken out the padding under the carpet that covers up the spare tire and stuff in the trunk area of a hatch back. I think Im going to tear mine out and lay in a piece of plywood instead b/c that sh*% has to way a ton, plus it holds moisture.

^ I can't imagine it weighs that much more than plywood. They say 100lbs is worth a tenth in the quarter. I know if I gut mine to make it faster, I would have to take out a lot to make it worth it. That is why I don't bother, I will just go on a diet ....

Convert to manual steering, saves 35# and you no longer have a pump being driven off the engine.......
Put battery in trunk, don't save weight but move 1% of weight to rear wheels.
Most 5.0's had like 58% of weight on front wheels......

Fiberglass hood, no metel behind bumper covers front and rear, no backseat, spare, subs, speakers. No inner fender lining. Got my car down to 2800 with a 1/4 tank of gas no driver.
