I don't know specifics in different states but don't you only have to do those tests once a year? Just hold on to your original h-pipe and put that back on before you go for the test. It's the easiest part of the exhaust to swap out.

 

Eh, everyone has a price.. I found a a inspector that will pass my car without cats for $75...

 

i would rather just swap the stock pipe in than pay that much extra

 

thanks alot guys. ill prob start off with just the gears, exhaust, and k&n filter. I dont have enough money for the supercharger right now because im still in school and only working part time. and i really doubt that my parents would let me put one on there anyways because im only 16. what is the best gear ratio to get if i want a little bit more kick out of it but still want to be able to drive it long distances without killing gas mileage any more.

 

3.73 for manual, 4.10 for AOD

 

3.73's will pick up an automatic a lot and not hit the highway mileage much at all.
4.10's are a bit much for the street and will impact the mileage a lot more. figure $190 for gears and $200 to install but dealers won't do it because of federal laws and heavy fines. good luck and drive safe while you get some experience behind the wheel!!!!

 

The local dealership here will install them for 150.As long as you buy them through the dealership.Most places will want you to get the gears through them.

If they still refuse ask them why they have FACTORY PERFORMANCE PARTS then.

 

are any brands of gears different in quality than others?? because i know that there are alot of different brands with a wide range of prices. and does anyone know if 5th gear has some sort of rev limiter on it?? because i can do about 125 in 4th and it wont rev over 3000 in 5th which is about 120

 

there is an electronic speed limiter. that is most likely what you are hitting.

 

it isnt really limiting the speed but in 5th gear because i have done almost 130 in 4th gear and it wont let me do but 120 (3000Rpm) in 5th gear. is that how the electronic speed limiter works??
