Default Headers?

I just got my 1992 Mustang GT 5.0 Convertible! I want to put some headers on it because I think I have a cracked exaust Manifold. What would be the best headers to buy?

i dont think they are cracked, you prolly need new gaskets. you will loose more power than you will gain with bigger headers on a stock motor.

yea i doubt it's cracked... like tim said i think it's a gasket. crank your engine and put your hands near (but don't burn yuourself) and see if you feel air down there.

also the flange on the header maybe warped from the factory

if it is the gasket use a copper one

You might be right, but never heard this before... how do headers rob power from a stock engine? [:-]

you won't really loose power you just won't see a huge gain as advertised.

shorties unequal will give you more torque and less HP

shorties equal will give you more HP and less torque

if you use long tube headers then you might loose a lot of torque and may even loose some horse power

but keep in mind this gain will minimal like 1-3

Anything bigger and better than stock will always be an improvement. The more the engine can breath, the better. Air velocity will control weather you get more horsepower gain or not.

No not so true you dont need bigger headers unless you have a h/c/i or a power adder. You will loose a good bit of low end with bigger headers.

if you think that is so true why does almost everyone say they feel like the lost power after a o/r h-pipe and headers???
