Setup
I was wondering if the cam I have is holding my engine back. I have a 95 GT with an Edlebrock Performer intake, GT-40 xp heads, an F-303 cam, headers, catback, msd ignition and mac cold air. I ordered an E series but my dad changed it to an F cam, I am not sure why since I had heard that the E cams were more for street and the F cams were more for supercharger apps. The reason I ask is I raced a stock '01 GT the other day and had a real rough time beating it.
It would seem like with my setup it shouldn't have been so close. Also would it be a good idea to take the car to get it tuned by a dyno shop or is there a way I could do it myself with an aftermarket part. Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't mention injector, throttlebody, nor meter size. Have you yet had it dyno'd? Tuned on a dyno? Had a chip burned yet?
Honestly, a cam designed for your combo is very difficult to beat. I've been in about 5 cars with cams from www.camresearchcorp.com & the difference in performance is amazing. So much so that I had one profiled & installed in my 5.0. Yes, it'll cost you for ther cam & lifter set; $400-600. The only drawback is if you plan on continuing modifying the car; the cam once again becomes "obsolete" (unless you let 'em know of a future mod when filling in the info card for the cam grind. Then, you have a not quite optimum cam until you make that future mod happen....

Injectors, throttlebody, and meter are all stock and I haven't done any dynoing with it yet. Is it a good idea to dyno it to see where I'm at? There's no chip on it either. I wish I could afford one, supercharger that is. I am pretty much done with major engine upgrades unless I am in need of something else that would help what I have on there now.

I'd change the throttle body first to let it breath a little better and headers if you don't have them. Seat of the pants & out of the hole change those gears if they are stock, 3.73 minimum..... my 02cts.

A dyno pull with wideband O2 will let you know what kind of power you really are making & how lean you might be running the motor right this moment.
ddeaton66 is right though; I bet you arn't "seeing" everything yet. Bigger meter & throttlebody should help.....
