Default Do I need to change oil when replacing my oil level sensor?

I'm getting my oil level sensor changed today because it has a slight leak. The haynes book gave no info. curious if the mechanic is going to have to drain the oil to do the job? Oil isn't cheap in Denmark

Depends on the skill & knowledge of the mechanic. If he's done it before, he'll know there is a clip to remove the sensor without draining the oil. if he's not too smart; he might try to remove the whole "body" that houses the sensor, (the large hex nut), & the oil will drain..... How much is the oil in Denmark?

What do you mean? We are talking about the sensor in the bottom driver's side of the oilpan, correct? Have you had one removed entirely(w\housing) from your oilpan to see that it is retained via a clip? I know it does not look like it can be removed while your under the car & looking at it; but my mechanic used a couple small screwdrivers and a few choice cuss words to remove it right in front of my eyes. I cannot corraborate nor confirm; but the mechanic said there was a special tool at one time to insert & remove it easily. He didn't have it of course.....

Oh trust me; you & I both! I had it to the mechanic because the sensor did not work & I had taken it upon myself to try to replace it. I saw the large hex nut, I decided that must be how it is removed, proceeded to break it of course, & I went & bought a new one from Ford via the mechanic's advise. I drove over & watched him install..... I felt like a perfect ideee-aught.....

Oil is about 35 euro for 5 liters in germany It's a little more in Denmark. I will get the bill tommorow. He ended up draining all the oil which is alright it's been sitting for 4.5 months. The irratating thing is I had a new filter that I got from a Ford dealership when I was in WA this winter and it was too long. I also got a filter from denmark once that was too long. So I had to put the old filter back which is about a year old.

you got it. Just an oil filter with shipping cost about 40 dollers if you buy it here. The one sweat part about living here is in my town there are no cops after 4 in the afternoon. The closest cops are 25 minutes away. Plenty of places were you can ripp third. I just did about 120 in a 50 zone. I don't do that to often because cops are rare but take charge if you get nailed.
