Default Broken Shifter

Tonight I was street racing a little bit and I was jamming the gears pretty hard. Once I was done and just cruising around my shifter was spinning when i turned it. I'm not sure if it was loose or what it was but one of my buddies said it was the pin the bottom of the shifter that possibly broke? What do I gotta do to fix this? It's a 5-speed by the way.

Seems like it, it still shifts fine and goes into gear and all. The **** just is really loose and spins and can be pulled up and down. You think I broke the threads on the **** or sometnihg?

try taking it right off, or tightening it all the way down, then take a look inside to see how the threads are, this will also tell you if you have more "severe" problems such as if the shifter is actually broken, obviously the problem will still be there when you take the **** off. If it is broken, you need a new one, get a short throw if it's broken

It almost seems like the threads are stripped. When I try to tighten the **** by hand it grabs a bit then go loose again, so that'd be the threads being ****ed no?

probably will be then, does your **** pop off easy? take it off and do whatever you were doing to your shifter with the **** off to see if the problems still there, if it's not, easy fix, just need a ****.

I'm just going to drink some beers at my buddies place and play some street hockey and watch the Stanley Cup playoffs.
