Default car problem

car runs great on the highway but when i stop at a redlight the oil pressure goes to 0 and car starts to stall. Ive noticed that if i give it gas the oil pressure goes back to normal. This only happens 1ce in awhile and i have checked to make sure there is oil. Any suggestions?
thanks gary

If changing the pump and or sender dose not get you anywhere, first off be sure you have the correct grade of oil and also if the engine is overheating it can cause the pressure to drop. Could also just be a clogged oil filter or cloggrd oil strainer. Hope that helps. Good luck

Change the filter with a Wix and try 50 weight. If there's crap in the pickup screen it might drop with the oil change. If after this, the pressure is way high, drain the 50 and add 30W. If not, try the sender and procede from there.

if the oil pressure drops, and the car want's to stall,I don't think it the sending unit...unless it has a couple probs.,anything to do with oil circulation,I'd get it checked as soon as possible..

Your crank and bearings are probably shot. That will cause the oil pressure drop and could be causing the knock. When the bearings wear it creates clearence and the oil drops right back into the oil pan, causing your oil pressure to drop. If the bearings are bad enough it will cause a knocking noise. I know this situation all to well, it happened to my car.
