battery relocation
I second this motion!!
I bought the summit [cheap] battery relocation kit w/2ga wires and I didn't put it into my 93 hatch yet...
Something about dropping a fuel tank that seems like too much trouble, and scary. Is there another way to put it in that wouldn't involve dropping the tank?

no pics yet as I am ashamed as to how dirty my hatch is. I have the same summit kit and wish I'd have gone with a different one. The box that comes with it prolly wont be allowed on a track cuz it doesnt seal(see where the wires are supposed to come out on the one side) that and the j-bars won't fit inside the box like its supposed to, but I'm gonna have to modify it. The other thing I forgot about when relocating the batt. is that to run on the track you need to have a master power kill switch located on the outside of the vehicle, so now i need to buy the switch, which goes for like $60 plus through most retailers and put a rod and handle through my hatch area to the back byt the license plate. So after spending $45 on the kit I am going to buy a different sealed type box for another $80 and the kill switch for $65+ so that seemingly cheap mod just got expensive to stay track leagal. OH well, still like the room under the hood and the weight transfer on my wheelspin happy GT.
Oh and my batt. is located in the rear PASSENGERSIDE corner behind the shock tower... i'll get a pic up tommorow.

the summit kit does suck, fore warning to anyone who reads this, buy a better sealed kit from summit, or buy a box and buy the wires and stuff seperately. The summit kits finish and fit quality is horrible, the j-bolts dont even fit inside the box like their supposed to. I'll prolly end up getting an aluminum box or just a different sealed box... but wish i had known how crappy it was before i bought it.
sorry dude, you'll need a sealed box and kill switch to be track legal, but atleast the kit will get you started. you'll see that the actual install is quite simple though...even though everyone else is scared of it.
i dont care about being track legal. i dont race at the strip anyways, except on grudge nights when they'll let anything run. i just wanted to see where you located the box at. did you move the starter solenoid to the passanger side? or did you leave it and just route your power wire to it?
