Default H-pipe install

I just picked up an H-pipe from a friend. It appears to be a direct bolt on (uses flanges). This is my first project with my car. What else would i need, exhaust sealer? Thanks for any input you can offer.

prouballr so penatrating oil for the bolts. i like to use muffler mender for extra protection on leakage. use new bolts when you can the old ones rust up pretty badly. i change mine every year. maybe a sawzall to cut the old exhaust off and your basic hand tools and dont forget the all important hammer.

Thanks for your advice. I'm going to put it on next weekend. I have to fix the AC, i'm going to try to knock out the H-pipe while i'm at it. I appreciate your help.

typically the ball flanges on the stangs are really good about sealing, I havn't had problems with mine, it can't hurt to seal it but you don't really need it.

I crawled under the car this afternoon. It looks like it wont be too big of a deal to bolt up. I've got some exhaust sealant, i'll see if that'll do it. Thanks.

get some good never-sieze compound and penetrating oil. use the oil on the old studs and bolts, the put the never-sieze on them when you reassemble them so they will come lose next time without so much hassle. I also use n-s on the ball joints in the pipes too.

Which gets the better flow the H-pipes or an X-pipe? I have heard that the H-pipe is better and then from someone else told me that the X-pipe was better. I'm putting on new exast on my 95 5.0 and was wondering what to get. thanks

I got the H-pipe installed today. It sounds great. Combined with the flowmaster mufflers it's a nice all around tone. Not too loud, but plenty deep enough for my taste. I just started fixing the car up. I have to say i'm thrilled with it so far (1 month since i got it). I've heard the X-pipe is better. I got my H-pipe from a friend for 50 bucks, so i really couldn't go wrong. Thanks for the help.

If you don't have headers, get some, that will make good use of the pipes. No sense in having those restrictive headers with a big pipe...
