Default Underdrive Pulley Installtion

Since everyone is busy, I figure I'll try doing this ALL by myself. I know I'm going to need an Impact wrench for the Alternator, but let me get this straight first. Ok on the water pump its just the four bolts you unloosen and that just pops off right?
Then to the crank, I can't really see down there but I think there are four MORE bolts just like the water pump. Just loosen those and plop on the new?
And for the Alternator its just that big nut on the front of it?
Now, will I need to get a new belt because the pulleys are a bit smaller?
Also, how do I tighten it? I don't know how I would do any of that. I don't see a "tensioner" or anything(isn't it supposed to be at the top?)
Also, what do I have to torque the bolts to when putting them back on?

The only pulleys i think I have are the Alternator, PowerSteering,Waterpump,Crank.

heres a shot of my engine if it helps a little bit.

The crank is the only pulley you can't see of course in this picture.
But thats what im working with.

So what I really need to know is how to retighten the belt, and what to torque the bolts to.

So you have no AC and no smog pump... I don't know why they gave you a power steering pulley, you don't need it, same with the alternator-they're about the same size. Loosen the water pump bolts (4) but don't take em off. Then loosen the Crank pulley (4 bolts again) Then loosen the tensioner, It should be there somewhere, I can't see it in the pic though. Once that's loosened take off the two pulleys and bolt the new water pump and crank on there. There are no torque specification just make sure they won't come off, use some locktite if you want. Put the belt back in position and tighten the tensioner until you have about 1/2 inch play when pushing and pulling the belt kinda hard. To stiff and youll burn up the alternator... Hope this helps.

That rod between your alternator and water pump seems to be your tensioner.

yes the yellow rod should be the ten. as for the belt it should work. the way your belt is running is way nice, perfect for a 5.0. befor you switch the pullies make sure that they are smaller than the ones on the car allready, looks pretty small to me.

the rest are smaller

now ill do this with confidence
thanks guys

the belt length doesn't change with the underdrive pulleys. the crank pulley is much smaller than stock and the water pump one gets bigger by the same amount so the belt travel is the same. the alternator pulley is only about 1/2" bigger than stock and you can easily adjust for that with the tensioner, just don't get the belt too tight or you will burn up the front bearing in the alternator. they don't make underdrive pulleys for the power steering or AC as they don't need to.

that bolt holds the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft, the balancer is the big round thing the pulley is bolted to and has the timing marks on it. the balancer is keyed to the shaft and has a slight interference fit on the crank snout and you need a special tool to install or remove it, so leave it alone!

no you don't need to touch the big bolt to get the bottom pulley off the crank, just remove the 4 bolts holding it on and tap it with a block of wood and it will come right off.
