Default quick question

So yesterday was my first day with my Notchback on the road i noticed that it grinds most times that i try to put it into reverse, the shifter is really really stiff too som i'm trying to get used to that. But is there any thing that could be causing it to grind into reverse??

t-5s dont have a syncronized reverse. when you go to put it in reverse, shift into 5th then pull it back into reverse. its normal to do that.

yeah it shouldnt be anything more than that. when i get on it real hard in first and shift to second i either miss it or grind real bad. i dont know why it pisses me off.

im trying to get used to this shifter, coming from a dodge srt4 this shifter is so stiff and it seems like if i'm not lined up perfect to go into the gear it wont go at all. Oh well ill get used to it i'm sure only driven it a few times so far.

Mine does it too, pretty common on T-5. Mine's kinda hard to push in gear sometimes too.

You'll get where you dont even think about going into 5th before reverse, you just do it.
no hassel and your trans is fine.

I think it's just a sign that the trans is nearing the end of it's life, but mine has been
doing that for 6yrs and still drives fine.

you can get rebuilt cheap too.

Get an MGW short throw shifter, they're supposed to be night and day on shift quality

MGW comes highly recommend on short shifters. putting one in mine soon.

and yeah I guess it's just T-5 thing with grinding reverse and stiff shifting.
you really wont notice having to put it in 5th everytime at all, no big deal.

btw: if you let someone else drive it, ( mechanic, whoever ) be sure to tell them
or you'll sit there cringing as you listen to them get it in reverse, lol
