Default Timing??

My freind just bought a timing light so we are going to check it on my car tommarrow, should I advance the timing? If so how much? I was thinking 11 or 12, 10 is stock right? Ive kinda heard bad things that come out of advancing the timing? Is it worth doing it??

yea, you dont have to worry about anything except gas really. long as you dont bump it too high. just bump it to like 12 and try 89 in it. it should be fine and youll feel the difference

youll actually feel this difference. you can even go higher long as it dont ping when you drive it, if so youll need to turn it back some. i run 15.

Default RE: Timing??

you can probably go 12* on 87

but you need to see if your leaning out. best way is bump 2* per run at the track starting w/ 10* and use the setting that gives you the highest mph.

more octane = less power w/ identical timing.

you want to add more octane to use the same timing, but eliminate detonation. or to keep from going lean if spraying.

you can also read your plugs.....if you don't hear it, it doesn't mean your not pinging.

read your plugs for detonation
