brand new cam? Solid, solid roller, hydraulic, hydraulic roller? Which type first off. As for removing and replacing, mach up your bolt that is used for the top cam gear and go buy one at the hardware store that is 4 inches long. This way you have control of the cam while your sliding it in. Be VERY careful not to nick the cam bearings on removal and install. Tell me what type of cam and I can tell you more

Im assuming its a new cam, I use comp cams cam lube for break-in, coat all lobes with a liberal amount of break-in lube. Slide the cam in, put lifters in, timing chain and so forth. Get everything ready to fire the motor on the first try. Make sure you are ready cause you can't be cranking the motor for 20 minutes trying to get it to start. Once started, immediately bring it up to 2500 rpm for 20 minutes. Once cam is broken in, change oil. Drive car.
