checking engine codes
just wondering.. since this is the first time for me doing this on a mustang.. how exactly do you check the engine codes whenever you get a check engine light? i know you need a scanner.. but what type? and where is the connector to plug into?

I think Walmart sells one that shows you the code.
I have one the beeps the codes... kind of pain, but works.
You plug into the diagnostic test connector... mine is clipped on the back of the area in the photo.
Turn the key on, but on don't start the car.
It will run it's test and show you the codes.

67 is a neutral switch(clutch pedal or tranny gear switch) or A/C on code....need to make sure A/C is off and tranny is in neutral...if you rerun the KOEO once you take care of those details and 67 repeats....then it'll need some checks. Let us know.
thanks man. it was actually something to do with the MAF. i'm sure of this because the pipe which connects the MAF to the firewall was loose and half off and must have been sucking in air with fluctuating density and flow. after re-tightening this pipe, the code went away. it was definitely a 67 though..
either way, it was a lesson for me in checking the computer

...FYI:Code 67: Neutral safety circuit failure or A/C circuit was on during KOER Self-Test.
Now, a code 66: MAF sensor went below 0.4 volts during the last 80 warm-up cycles.
