Default help with brakes

well i just did my front brakes, and now the peddle is mushy and it will barely stop the car, i bled the system and that didnt help, the guy at the store told me that maybe i should take the shims off that came with it so thats my next try tomorrow, but would those tiny shims make the peddle so mushy, also wheni put the pads on they were real tight u cant even turn the wheel by hand so maybe the shims off will help but any suggestions would be great thanks. oh and its a 94 5-speed.

how did you bleed the brakes? right rear, left rear, right front, left front? you have to start with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. and what shims are you talkin about

you will probably have to do it a couple of times to get all the air out.
what did you do to the front brakes? new rotors and calipers?

what process did you use to bleed them?

i did go from right rear to the front i only did it once thou, maybe ill try again when i go to take the shim things off. as for the shims they are a little metal piece that sticks to the back of the pad, they came with em so i figured they went on but maybe not. and all i did was put pads on didnt undo anything except the caliper off the rotor and put em back on.

thanks for the replies.

what you need to do is knoch off the rust on the disc where the pad don't hit or have the machine for a nice fresh suface...this would also be a go time to change the brake fluid with some dot 4 or 5...I would also say when the piston was pushed in to insert the brake isn't working right..I would go get a set of 1985 svo caliper which a 76mm and are just 18.00 or so and your stock one are just 60mm as all foxes have sh!tty brakes

Wrong. Just about every aftermarket pad out there comes w/ adhesive backed shims for the pads. It's to help w/ brake sqeal.
