Default clutch problem??

Today as i was driving home all a sudden i herad a kinda slight pop and now the clutch cable kinda feels a little ruff when i push it. But there is a little noise coming from under the dash. i thought it might be the quadrant but it isnt and that is a steeda. but the noise is coming from right above the clutch peedle. not the quadrant side? i was under there and sprayed some wd-40 to c if it was maybe rubbing but that didnt do anything. it has a almost brand new clutch cable. and the steeda quadrant. any ideas of what could be causeing this. o i dunno if it is normal but there is a little play in the peddle from side to side. thnx

Something could have come loose, just check everything and make sure it all looks good. Also on a side note WD-40 isn't a lubricant, it's a degreaser. So you probably got rid of whatever lube was on there by spraying it.

vertstanggt86 is flat out wrong about WD-40 not being a lubricant. don't know where he got the idea it is a degreaser either, but needless to say he's wrong about what he said.

I knew it wasn't a flat out degreaser but I know I've seen it take grease off bike chains and all kinds of stuff. But then when I got to thinking more about it people do use it as a lubricant, so I ran out to the garage and looked at the can. Guess what, it says it lubricates chains, wheels, blah, blah, blah, and right underneath that it says it removes grease, and other stuff. I knew I wasn't coming from no where with that. It can't be a good long term lube since it will evaporate and dry out, not as good as grease. So if it removes grease and lubes it for the time being it still won't last as long as grease. So I guess it's somewhere in the middle.

Check your firewall adjuster if you have one. I have a steeda adjuster and as the time went on it seemed like it turned itself and made my clutch tighter.

Have you checked to see if the cable is still held to the frame before it goes under the car? Should be held away from the header with a bracket.
Only other thing I can think of is, did the cable pull thru the firewall? I had this happen with a Pinto once, and lost the use of the clutch completely. Had to drive 30 miles home with no clutch (Good thing I was a truck driver at the time, and knew how the shift without the clutch).

BTW-WD-40 is mostly kerosene, which is why it's considered a light lubricant and a cleaner.

It happens. All cables are different. mine second one went out after only month and a half. It figures. Sometimes it is just poor quality.
