Default starter problems

I am having problems getting my car started. my fuel pump is working fine but i am having problems with my car tuning over. all it does is just turn and turn. i talked to a sales rep at a local auto parts store and their suggestion might be the starter and the flywheel connections. is there any suggestions out there???

so all the motor does is turn and turn and not fire?? and your local auto parts store thought it was a starter problem?

assuming im reading your post right, youre saying that the motor just cranks, but wont fire. Id start with making sure you are getting spark. I dont know what year your car is, but also check fuel pressure at the rail, Im not sure how you know your fuel pump is working. We should be able to give you some better advice from there.

sure let me better explain. my car has been put up for approx. 2 years with occasional driving. I would start it once a week and drive it about once or twice a month. now i have sold my truck and am now driving this full time. everything was fine but recently it has been slowly giving me problems. now it just wont start at all. maybe it could be my plugs. i have bosch platinums that i installed about 3 to 4 years ago. i have heard that the best plugs for a 5.0 are the original motorcrafts. i know im getting fuel. i just recently changed my filter 6 months ago. I have a 95 vert. with approx. 105,000 miles. my fuel pump works i believe. i can hear it pumping every time i turn the car on. so with this said i hope this helps me give you a better analysis.

thanks again for all yalls help . . .

my car will do the same thing except i have to let the key back

if i just hold it forward and wait for it to fire it wont so even tho it might not fire i just let it back and it does

might wanna try that if u havent. my fuel pump works too but i think its weak cause its not as loud as it used to be. u cant even hear it from the rear anymore and i could before.

if you've got access to some vacuum line -- put a small section of vacuum line (1-2 inches) between the spark plug, and the plug wire boot. now get out a test light. find a good ground, then hold the light against the vacuum line while you have somebody crank the engine. see if you get some spark!

that's if you don't have a spark tester btw.

or if you're feelin ballzy, just pull the wire off at the plug, and hold the boot close to the plug and watch for spark.
