Broke Plenum Stud

RE: Broke Plenum Stud
Autozone sells a set of reverse screws. I have the same problem but with my thermostat housing. The previous owner broke the stud off about a 1/4 of an inch inside![:@] Anyway I bought the reverse out set and predrilled a hole but when I tried the screw it broke off inside![:@] After that I couldnt drill anymore cause the bits are hardened steel![:@] Anyway moral of the story is get a better reverse set, like Craftsman, and drill a bigger hole. Good luck.

Well guys, I decided to leave the broken stud in place ( it is the one at the rear of the TB where the coolant line comes in). The only problem I had was that the coolant was leaking out the top of the TB. I just capped off the two hoses. Is there any real danger in doing this?

RE: Broke Plenum Stud
If you have mass air, a leak there can cause a idle issue....I would fix it anyway. Try and use a ***** punch and hammer and spin it out....might not work...Put you throttle body on, get a drill the same size as your throttle body screw hole and drill into the screw a little(to get a mark on the center of the screw) then take one a few sizes smaller(tap drill size if you know the thread)and drill it out and tap it. Good luck
