Default Hot Console

I was wondering if any of you guys had the same problem. My console is ultra hot all the time, heat blows out of the shifter boot like crazy. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to keep the console cool? What the fud?

Yeah check to see if you have any fluid in it. If so and it's clean than I would seriously consider throwing a tranny cooler on your car to keep the heat do a little. Also, get some Perma-Cool lining and take up you console and lay some of that down on the tunnel. Also, I think the same company Perma-Cool also sells a heat resistant shift boot that you can throw on and still put your stock leather boot over top of. That should do the trick. If not you may wanna consider taking your exhaust into question.

Do you have long tubes, I've seen some buys complain that there long tubes heat up the center console.

my center console gets so hot I almost cant touch it.
I do have longtube headers though.

but even with my shorties it got hot, because the inner boot thing wasnt there.
look under the leather shifter boot and see if the second one is there.

my shift gets hot too

i have an AOD so theres no boot

i can feel the heat on the t-bar

my fluids are fine

i was told in my case that if the tranny got hot enough to exert heat to the shifter, the tranny would have blown up by now. my guess is its the exhaust combined with hot weather.

plus my interiors all black.. sooo hot

Check to see if you have the rubber boot under the other one. When we put our tranny back in we left it out and went around the block. We had to put in back on midway through the cruise since there was so much heat and noise. Only part of concole that gets hot is the shifter.
