Default md emissions question

If I have a 1969 block in my 1991 GT is it exempt from emissions?

pretty sure they base it off the year of the car and not the motor. call your local DMV to find out

This is a good question. I ran a 78 Camaro on the street in my younger days and I beleive that MD went for the block year. Not sure anymore though. Been a few years. Cant find anything on the net either. Good luck.

Talked to the DMV. Their response was that it was based off the chassis. That would have been good enough for me but the this guy tells me how it is against the EPA laws to run an older engine in my car. Kind of makes me wonder how maryland is hurting for money with the price of gas and everything else. And I wonder if the guy I talked to had the money to buy a same year engine for his car. LOL. So after all of that went thru my mind I asked the guy where I could find that law. He is supposed to get back to me. We shall see.

Yeah, they go buy the Year of the Car. It would be a big old mess for the people at the MVA to keep track of engine swaps and such. (It would be nice if they went off the engine.) And yes, he is right about that EPA crap. It is in most states... Not that you will ever get caught. They have never opened the hood of anyone I know at the emission place. It will probably be hard to get that to pass unless you get some type of emission control stuff on that Engine. Seeing as it is a 1991.

That is correct. It is based of the year of the car. W/e came in that particular vehicle is what it has to have. Otherwise everyone would be running a pre emissions motor in their cars.
