Oil Problems
Im faced with a problem with my oil level. Well to start off, i had a leak in my oil pan, so I to drained the oil before patching. Only about 1 quart of oil came out until it completely stopped dripping. This puzzled me. My dipstick read 100% full when I checked it minutes before. I went on to patch the leak up with JB Weld. While the oil was drained i decided to put a new 5 quarts in and a new oil filter. I changed my filter, then added 4 quarts of oil. Before putting the last one inside, i checked my dipstick. It read about double over full. The dipstick reads FULL roughly 2 inch from the tip of the stick and my oil level was at a solid 4 inches up onto the stick. How is this possible? I dont want to run my engine with this much oil, but if it was drained 100%, and I added 4 quarts, how could my oil level be so high? Could the dipstick be wrong? Any feedback appreciated.

RE: Oil Problems
I would blame the dipstick, someone could have changed it before you had the car, or by chance did this all the sudden start to happen? Either way never trust the dipstick always trust the capacity of the pan + the full oil filter..........On my 90 F-150 I had to change the dipstick, all I could find was a chrome one, when I measured out thesticks from where they each sat bottomed out in the pan the chrome one would show that it was always needing more oil, so I scratched a mark on the dispstick witht he proper oil level and everything was fine afterwards, you may have to do something like that.
Put 5 L plus whatever it will take to fill the oil filter check the oil and whever the oil level sits etch it into the dipstick.

RE: Oil Problems
i drained my oil and i wasnt sure how much oil was in there but i have a 7 quart drain pan and it was over half full so i know i got most of it.
not sure about the sn-95's but the foxes have 2 drain plugs on oppossite sides of the pan (front and rear)
basicaly u just wasted that new oil
i would drain it completely and go put some NEW oil in it and make sure its all gone. i dont just check the dipstick i check the sensors too. i turn the key on engine off and my sensors all came on so i knew i had got most of it out

RE: Oil Problems
I would open both oil plugs to make sure one isnt pluged with anything, as well when the plugs are out stick your finger or something in it to make sure there is nothing around the hole obtructing it.

RE: Oil Problems
Ok i will do that sounds like a good idea. I dont think i have two plugs though. I will get under there and check in a minute but if anybody knows if a 1994 has two plugs it wouldn't hurt for a reply I guess.
