3:73s or 4:10s?
Im fairly new to the world of forums but I decided to register to this one because I have a ton of things I want to do to my mustang. One of them being gears. I have a 1990 gt with a t5. I have a 26' tire in the rear. What am I looking at as far as RPMs with 4:10s? I do alot of highway driving so would 3:73s be a little more ideal?

RE: 3:73s or 4:10s?
if you do alot of highway driving get 3.73's, for rpm and gas mileage but if your just looking to get a good gear for the track get a 4:10. i had a 3.73 in the car when i bought it and love it.
4:10's will have high rpms while on interstate. but 3.73 are not that bad and they still give you alot more take off than stock. |

RE: 3:73s or 4:10s?
with 4.10's at 70mph in 5th gear you will be at 2500 rpm
with 3.73 at 70mph in 5th gear you will be at 2200 rpm 4:10 at 80mph is 2900 rpm 3.73 at 80mph is 2600 rpm this is according to a calculator using the tire diameter you give me... could be a little different not a big difference in rpm range between the two gears but you will notice a whole lot of difference at the track... if your not going to run it at the track alot and mainly street drive it i say 3.73 but if your going to take it to the track alot i would go with 4.10. |
RE: 3:73s or 4:10s?
Yea man,go with 4:10's cuz I got a '95 GT drop top and love um, sucks on gas tho....but you will have alot of pull in each gear!!!

RE: 3:73s or 4:10s?
if oyureally look at the rpm differance its NOT THAT MUCH....so ide get the taller gear, get a lil more pull, pay a few more bucks!

RE: 3:73s or 4:10s?
If you do a lot of highway driving, get the 3.73s. They're a great all-around gear, and it still pulls hard in every gear. I have 3.73s and I love them!
