Default Want to spend some money on heads/cam.

I found a place that sells new GT40p's for $540/pr so im really thinking about getting them and buying Trick Flows cam that'll give me .499/.510 lift with 1.6 rockers. I wanted to buy TF's topend kit but im getting bored and i dont feel like spending over 2grand for it now. Will i regret not buying the kit later on down the road? Oh and i eventually want to upgrade to a 331 so if i do go with the p's will i still be good, or would the TF's have been a better choice? Thanks.

dont waste your money on the gt40s, do it right the first time and get the trickflow stuff. if you want to upgrade later youll already have the good parts

That seems high for the 40p's. Real gt-40's run $500. If thats your price range, the gt-40 is a solid head.

Back about 10 years ago when I was having a 350 built for my 79 cutlass I was told something about either the cam duration or the lift of some sort shortening engine life a bit, which was it? Also how much would this project he's doing cost at a mechanic? If I order the parts off summit or something and have a mechanic do all the work, total project cost?
